Summary
Bruce's fingertips hook beneath the metal and she gasps out. The mask is wrenched from her skin.
There's a sweet silence, a calm tension in the air, thick and muggy, like the humidity before a storm.
Then, a clatter of heavy metal against concrete as her mask is dropped against the floor.
"Iris..." He breathes out. There's a painful unsteadiness to his voice, an almost reverence, cracked and shuddering.
Her chest is heaving, and she huffs out a breath, the pain in her ribs becoming unbearable, but diminishing under the weight of her anger, the weight of the betrayal she feels, all those juvenile feelings rushing to the surface. Like she's fourteen again, and the man she thought was a god has just let her down for the first time.
"That's not my name." She spits. The 'Not anymore' is unspoken, but by the shaky breath that leaves Bruce, he heard it anyway.

Things had officially gone to shit. With the guilt of Princess Yue's death on (Y/n)'s mind, she finds it conflicting to come to terms with her feelings about Sokka. Paired with more shocking revelations, she realizes things aren't going to get easier for her.
They learn to live with their choices and play with the hand the universe deals them, and that they cannot change what has happened. They go forward with the knowledge that they know better now.
They keep walking, getting up when they fall. They let go of the fears of their pasts to become the best version of the person they are.
