“No,” is what George says. “But I thought about it, sometimes.”
Paul sags at the shoulders, a relief of sorts that’s not yet enough to stop him from digging. “I didn’t know you were interested.”

“I used to live here, once.” Bob had said, walking arm against arm with George as they turned onto 23rd. His cap was pulled low, his hands stuffed into his pockets, his shades on. It somehow made him look more like holy-fuck-that’s-Bob-Dylan than less. George didn’t remember what he said in response, maybe ‘nice place’ or a noncommittal noise but he was sure that it wasn’t his idea to cross in the middle of the road, walk up and check in to the Chelsea.
“Wanna see?” Bob had asked.
“See what? The old pad?” George had asked, cheekily, oddly nervous.
“You’ll see.”
