Mydei lowers his eyes, taking in the blood dripping from the alpha's fingers. When he lifts them back up, Phainon blinks, and throws him a lopsided smile that doesn't reach the eyes, as if the man hasn't done it in a very long time.
Oh.
He recalls the times the alpha called him with that same exact tone, finally noticing the difference. Phainon's eyes darken the second the realization dawns on him, like a predator prancing in front of his prey.
His instincts scream at him to flee, but the other side of his mind finds it challenging, entertaining, and he wants.

Mydei enjoys his repetitive, yet peaceful life. Wake up, go to work, come home and unwind with a nice book to read--things like that. However, the day he spontaneously picked up three chimeras up from an alleyway was the day his life had changed forever.
Gone were the peaceful days he had grown to love, turned completely upside down when he invited three critters to his humble home.
But you know, maybe this new life isn't so bad.

Phainon leaned forward until his forehead touched Mydeimos’s.
