It’s Eight Year. The castle is half rebuilt, and everyone is still kind of raw. Harry has finally realised the inconvenient truth, he’s been in love with Hermione for years - and he only noticed now, when she is technically “Ron’s girl” (except…are they even together anymore? Are any of them anything other than traumatised??)
So, because Harry is an idiot in love, he does the only sensible thing: he makes a guide for himself like he is planning a new Horcrux hunt, except the objective is not “defeat Voldemort” because he has done that, it’s: steal Hermione from your best mate without becoming the worst person alive

What if one stupidly horny choice in fifth year broke the timeline so thoroughly that by 1981 half the Order was sleeping with the wrong people, Regulus Black was alive, Peter Pettigrew was useful, and Voldemort' future dictatorship was about the be derailed by four twenty-one-year-olds, of which one is a traumatised widower, and a baby?
In another universe, Sirius Black played a cruel prank on Severus Snape and history marched obediently towards tragedy. In this one, Sirius realised halfway through fifth year that he wanted to shove Snape against the wall and kiss him until one of them lost the fight with gravity. History, understandably, never recovered.
OR
The author over the gin and tonic joked about that Harry Potter was full of what if's and one moment later that she decided to write a spin of What if series. Nobody was surprised by it, not even her.
