According to Ning Yingying and some older Shimei’s, everyone had been baffled when Shizun had made him a personal disciple. He was good enough to be an inner disciple but not the best by a long shot, and Shizun only took The Best. He didn’t get into any of the infighting senior disciples normally did for their Shizun’s favor because according to Ning Yingying
“Shizun thinks Shen-Shixiong is a lazy brat, and Shixiong doesn’t care what anyone thinks ‘cause he’s always trying to get off the mountain to go hunt monsters like he’s some Bai Zhan Brute.” She had then assured Luo Binghe that he’d love Shen Yuan.
Luo Binghe has a sinking feeling in his chest that perhaps, this is the most accurate thing his Shijie has ever said to him.

Summary
The pantry in my childhood home always stood empty when I came home from school. There would be brief moments of time where the small cabinet with its flickering light would be lit up with cans of vegetables, and bags of rice and beans, but these moments were few and far between. But for some reason, on my third pass of looking through the cabinet in the vain hope that maybe something would have changed from the last time, my throat tightened. Today, the only thing in the pantry was a thick layer of dust, a long dead moth, and a single rusty can of old corn.

Taking the bagged envelope in hand again, Bruce moves to the Batcomputer and pulls up the folder of fonts on the system. He glances between the envelope and the sample screen for the font he’d already suspected would be a match.
But clocking the font name gives him a great deal of pause. “Jokerman,” he finally declares in a growl through clenched teeth.
Tim, as it turns out, may not be Jack Drake’s son, but Bruce Wayne’s already got kids he picked out personally. That’s okay though, because Tim’s got a plan for how to deal with this revelation—it’s not like he needs acknowledgement from a second father that doesn’t want him, anyway.
