Summary
The backing track for Heaven pulses through the air; up on stage, Taemin brings life to this place, turned hollow without the screaming exuberance of fans to fill it up. Minho has seen this man on a thousand different stages; watching him now is the culmination of all those years of mastery. There’s nothing in his expression, in his movements, in the steady shine of his voice that gives away that he’s performing to three members and a smattering of staff. The piped-in cheering at the end of the first song is a grim resurrection, but Taemin holds himself placid and beautiful while the cameras zoom in on his face, like a creature existing apart from this world.
“I miss it,” Minho says to the others, not bothering to hide the surprise in his voice. They both knew his concerns about leaving; they knew his concerns about coming back. “Ah, but that’s always been his power, hasn’t it? To make you wish you were up there with him.”

“You could have totally done it, and it wouldn’t have hurt her, I mean hell, you can even do it with Namjoon’s pecs.” The mention of his name pulls Namjoon out of the trance he was in. It feels like he should say something, but he never gets the chance, because Hoseok gets up, takes two long steps until he’s in front of the couch he was sitting on, and lifts his t-shirt over his head.
“Here, I’ll prove it.” He doesn’t get to move, comment or protest before he feels Hoseok’s slightly cold, slightly sweaty hands cup his pecs. They’re suddenly pressed together in a way they have never been before and he can’t see it because of the shirt that’s over his head. “I mean, you have to use your thumbs to cover the upper side but it totally works.”
“Guys?” Jungkook’s voice interrupts the dead silence that fell in the room. Namjoon still can’t see, and Hobi’s hands are still on his chest. “What are you talking about?”
