In the aftermath of everything in Egypt, Alex Rider decides that he's done. MI6 still holds him on as tight a leash as they can, but he's had it. He just wants to get away from all the insanity. He runs. He makes it as far as Gotham city before he meets Tim Drake. Which, as anyone who knows Tim Drake could tell you, is the most sure-fire way to introduce more insanity into your life. Things get out of control more quickly than he's ready to admit.

“You’re sending me to Gotham City???”
Alex Rider is still under the control of the MI6. In fact they have put an even tighter leash on him. For his next mission, they are sending him to Gotham City to discover the secret identities of the Justice League under the guise of taking down a national drug and human trafficking ring. He ends up in Gotham Academy where he meets the Waynes. He forges a friendship with Tim Drake-Wayne, one he knows is not going to end well for both of them. Will he be able to keep his true motive a secret from the ever watchful eye of Tim Drake-Wayne?
Tim Drake-Wayne knows that the new kid is keeping some secrets, but even after becoming friends with him, he's irritatingly closed off. And even after a clean background check, Tim is still suspicious. Can he discover Alex's secrets before Alex discovers his?
As Alex navigates the various obstacles that the city and his mission throws at him, will he be able to survive with his sanity intact or will he actually reach for a lending hand?
