Mikey spends the first couple years of his un-life dreading that he will be freshly twenty one forever. It doesn't help that he's apparently one of the first "thin-bloods" in existence, which means he's now practically shunned from both Kindred and Kine society alike. Sure, he's got the support of his brother and his friends-turned-bandmates, but it only eases the bitterness so much, considering they're all stuck in the same predicament.

Pete’s face felt too hot suddenly, his heart hammered in his chest so hard that Pete was worried Mikey might hear it somehow, even though that was physically impossible.
Except that Mikey’s eyes dropped to stare a hole into his chest, eyes fixed right over where his heart was pounding, and his grin grew a little sharp, his eyes dilated ever so slightly and it looked like that he could hear every pound, every rush of blood locked in his chest.
But that's.... That's impossible.
