Yugi's life had always been pretty normal. The only thing not quite normal were his missing memories of two of his high school years. And maybe the fact that he could read hieroglyphs as if they were written in his native language. And there was the issue that he never looked quite like himself on these old recordings of his tournament duels.
Either way, all of this was still pretty damn normal compared to suddenly being separated from his study group, finding himself in the middle of the desert, only to get abducted by slave traders, just because he touched some pendant! When he took the gamble of trusting that strangely familiar Yami, he had hoped to not end up in an even worse situation, true, but he also hadn't expected to find a lost bond and a love so deep it left him feeling stunned and breathless.
Or: Yugi suffers from severe separation trauma caused by Atem leaving after their ceremonial duel, making him forget all about his other self. Unrelated to that, he finds himself transported to and enslaved in Ancient Egypt. But as always, Atem has his back. And turns his life around entirely.

Jaskier nods, but he remains quiet.
A slight tremor works its way into his right hand, and Yennefer smirks at its appearance.
The sorceress scoffs faintly, and she approaches him. There is something in her violet eyes, like a spark that proceeds the wildfire it causes as she comes close, her voice growing low and sharp.
“He will hunt you,” Yennefer whispers, as though she is reciting some sort of spell, bewitching as she is sardonic, “You cannot hide from him. You cannot outrun him. You cannot overpower him.”
Jaskier swallows, but he does not waiver. Not even as Yennefer begins to circle him.
Despite the tears in her dress and the dirt that clings to her form, she remains as entrancing as ever. It’s as though she’s a fever dream Jaskier can only spot from the corners of his eyes.
Her words come to Jaskier like a mirage, a silhouette muddled in fog. The only solid sensation coming from her being the race her words bring to his heart.
“You will be at the Witcher’s mercy.”
That should scare Jaskier.
But it doesn't.

Summary
Geralt has definitely made plenty of enemies over the many years of his existence as a Witcher. The crudest of labels - mutant, monster, butcher - have rolled of the tongues of nearly all humans that saw him. There was but one person - a sweet, beautiful bard - who never viewed him as such atrocities. Geralt never understood why Jaskier cared so much for him.
The only thing he understood less than that was how unreasonably in love he was with Jaskier.
But the last time the Witcher allowed himself to be vulnerable, it ended in disaster the day he was dubbed the "Butcher of Blaviken". Geralt thought it best to deny his feelings after that - or, at the very least, to hide them.
It seemed unthinkable that anyone would ever target Jaskier in order to get to Geralt, nor to take any brutal measures to silence him...
...But what if the unthinkable happened?
How would Jaskier deal with losing what he built his life around - his voice? Would Geralt remain steadfast at Jaskier's side and do everything he could to undo the damage, or would guilt end up destroying him?
