Scar’s voice cut through the haze like a blade drawn too close to the ear. “You’re still standing,” he said, his tone half-amused, half-challenging. “Did Mingting forge you to endure, or did you just refuse to die like the rest of them?”
Qiuyuan didn’t answer. He shifted his stance slightly, grounding the tip of his sword against the cracked earth. The heat stung his face, the air trembled with every flicker of Scar’s power, he can feel it.
“I could ask the same,” he replied evenly. His voice carried no anger, only certainty.
Scar’s laughter rang out again, bright and sharp. “Is this the same howl from another dog?"
After Scar’s infiltration of Septimont, he hadn’t expected Mingting’s response to be so swift—or so he thought. He wondered why they sent him a blind man instead of an executioner. What he didn’t expect was that they were one and the same.
