Months after The Promised Day, Hawkeye finds herself easily settling back into East City, and so does her Superior and his Unit. The last day she can relax and keep her mind off of work is filled with thoughts, running a race inside her mind. She was no stranger to these thoughts, but after seeing the center of them greet her so warmly, she can't help but push her limits(after denying over and over). And neither can he.

Summary
Riza Hawkeye unexpectedly has to have her appendix removed. Roy Mustang takes care of her, just as he always has. But, under the haze of her pain medication, Riza begins to speak a little too freely, voicing the one major truth that they've both been avoiding for years. Thrown off by Riza's vulnerability and pushed by their closest comrades, Roy has to navigate how to respond to the revelation, which proves to be all the more difficult with both of them sober.

“I’ve been wanting to ask you something. Something important,” Riza starts, and she can’t quite look at Roy, instead staring past him at the headboard of the bed. “You wanted me to think about what I wanted on this trip, right?”
“Right,” Roy answers, searching her face for any clue as to where this is going, only to find none.
His mind starts to race. What could she possibly want?
A beat of silence stretches between them. Riza swallows, opens her mouth, and then closes it, like she’s weighing every possible way to phrase what’s on her mind to no avail.
Then, finally-
“Roy, do you… Want kids?”
