    Summary

What little luck he’d had left him on Mapuzo. With Vader in front of him and a flaming inferno behind, there was nowhere left to run, and there, clutched in the female inquisitor's iron grip, struggling, was Leia.
Vader turned to her and growled, “What?”
“My Lord,” the Third Sister said, her eyes shining with zealous fervor, “we captured one of the rebels! I’m certain this girl can lead us to their base!”
“Then get it out of her and -”
“No!” Obi-Wan hadn’t even noticed that he’d moved to stand between Leia and Vader until one of the stormtroopers grabbed his shoulder to hold him back. “No, Anakin, you can’t! Don’t let them hurt her!”
“Be quiet,” the inquisitor snapped at him, before looking back at Vader. “I’ll make her talk, my Lord.”
“NO!” Obi-Wan screamed. “Anakin, you can’t let them hurt her!” His next words were a grotesque betrayal of Bail and Breha’s trust, but desperation forced them out of him. “She is your daughter!”

    Summary

There’s no telling what Anakin looks like right now. Taller than Obi-Wan but not as tall as Qui-Gon. Dressed in clothes he’s never owned in any of his lives. Neat, basic earth-colored tunics and trousers that don’t feel awful on. Calling one of them by their formal title. Coming up to them and crying, projecting a messiness so potent in the Force he knows they can both read every bit of it. Even if they don’t understand.

“Oh,” Obi-Wan says, voice as clear as a bell. He smiles again, smaller this time, and Anakin wants to reach out and hold him, wants to reach out and wrap both hands around his godsdamned throat. “It’s you.”

Or, in the space between one breath and another, Darth Vader slips into the Force redeemed by the light of his son and opens his eyes again as Anakin Skywalker, forty or so years in the past.

    Summary

‘Then it was real, my Padawan.’

Anakin shudders. He hasn’t heard Obi-Wan call him that in decades. It is beyond his comprehension that he could be here, held close as if he is still precious to the one he callously threw away to call another as Master.

    ‘How?’ asks Anakin, persistent.

‘You’d have to ask Master Yoda for specifics, but I believe there is this thing called the Force that guides each and every one of us – ’

Anakin laughs for the first time in so long; it hurts and fills him up with a strange mix of joy and despair.

“Prisoners rate bedrooms and medical care?” Obi-Wan asks.

Anakin smiles, sharp, familiar, strange. “I’m glad you’re feeling well enough to be sarcastic. Welcome home, Obi-Wan.”

    Summary

Anakin, in a fit of bravery uncharacteristic even for the Hero With No Fear, decides that he should tell the Council about his secret marriage, so that no Sith could ever use it against him to hurt the Jedi Order or the Republic.

It goes swimmingly--if you ignore the fact that Anakin definitely meant to say that he married Padmé in the wake of Geonosis, and yet the entire Jedi Council seems to think he married Obi-Wan.

And also if you ignore the fact that now no one believes them when they tell them flat out that Anakin is married to and in love with Padmé, not his old master.

And also if you also ignore the fact that Anakin doesn't know how to ignore the fact that being in love with Obi-Wan sort of makes a lot of sense. In fact, it feels like the only thing that's made sense in the last four years, come to think of it.
