I got the inspiration to write this after seeing Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin’s final face-off in what could be their last game on the ice. It made me think about what Ilya and Shane might be like if they choose to keep their relationship private and retire on their own terms.

JJ’s jaw dropped. Hayden let out a weird, choking sound. Troy started laughing, but it also sounded like he was crying. Wyatt and Cliff looked at each other, huge smiles taking over their faces.
“He’s who I had sex with this morning,” Shane continued, oblivious to the table’s reactions. “Twice.” He added cheerfully.

It was supposed to be a casual night out with friends - until, JJ and Hayden show up, with Shane (his secret boyfriend).
Shane is panicking, of course, so Ilya pours him some vodka, as an emergency option. This turns out to be a mistake. Lips get loose, and secrets are revealed.
