Summary
The problem— the problem, in Astarion’s estimation— is that his love seems hell-bent on sending himself into an early grave with stress.
He says he's alright. He thinks Astarion doesn't know.
Which is insulting, in its way. Luka tries to hide his hurts like a sick dog, but Astarion knows him by now. He can see.
The situation is dire, yes, but the world hasn't ended yet. And Luka will lighten up and relax if Astarion has anything to say about it.

Summary
Luka looks at him then, really looks at him.
His shoulders are high and tight, all of his weight is shifted onto the balls of his feet, and his eyes are flickering between Luka’s face and the space around and behind him. He thinks of the memory the tadpole had shown him, so soaked in fear it had left him feeling off-kilter for long minutes.
Astarion isn’t a monster. He’s just a person in a silly ruffled shirt, and he’s terrified.

Summary
After a dispatcher working out of DTLA is brutally murdered by one of the supers on her team, SDN is desperate to fill the position. Turns out, Robert’s the perfect guy for the job.
He’s practically a miracle worker, after all. The Phoenix program’s a rousing success, Shroud’s back behind bars, the Z-Team’s at the top of Torrance’s leaderboard… and with the director of the SDN offering him the promotion in person, how could he say no?

Summary
Astarion still liked her even after he found out about the Urge. He still likes her, now, even as he sits just far enough away from her that their shoulders aren’t quite touching.
The thing is that Lenore loves him. Lenore loves Astarion more than she imagines she has ever loved anything, ever, past life of missing memories be damned. And it doesn’t matter if she wants to curl up against him. She doesn’t want to make him uncomfortable—it’s not something he wants, he’d said—and her own hands are too stained with blood for her to even try.
She’ll take it in stride. She’ll only touch him when he initiates it, and even then she will hold her breath until it’s gone.
She loves him, is the thing. She’s not going to do that to him.
