Summary
Lando should have known that loving Carlos would bring him such cruel fate. But he didn’t regret for a second loving him. The love he had for him had been so incrusted in his insides it had become a part of his identity. Loving him had not been a decision; it had been sedimentary. Layer upon layer until it formed bone. To extract it now would mean dismantling himself.
And Carlos loved him back. Tragically not enough to keep him alive.

Lando Norris found himself fighting for a World Championship, while on the other hand Carlos Sainz was insanely focused on bringing Williams back to the top. They don't speak anymore, too occupied to make room for the other in their life.
Everything changes when Lando meets Carlos again in a place he never thought he would go back to.

Summary
Lando lifted the little Hello Kitty camera he had apparently been carrying around all day, giving Carlos a small, pleased smile. “Look at this. I have been walking around with this the whole day.”
Then he tried to take a picture of Carlos.
Carlos reached out and covered his face with one hand, blocking the lens in a lazy, playful motion.
“Do not take my photo,” he said, and the smug curve of his mouth only widened when he looked back at Lando through his fingers. “...Pervert.”
Lando stopped.
He lowered the camera slowly.
And then, because Lando Norris had never met a mild insult he could not turn into a challenge, he interpreted the word like a direct invitation.
Or: Lando is absolutely not coping with the fact that Carlos even considered rejecting him, and decides to give him a very hands-on, extremely affectionate lesson about it.

“Carlos! Last race ticked off the list, you’re done! How does it feel?” the interviewer asks.
Carlos takes a deep breath and nods. “Good. About time. I’m looking forward to retiring, actually.”
“How do you imagine retirement will feel?”
“Like a very long winter break that I will spend with my family, with my girlfriend, and all the things I didn’t have time for in the past years.”or: Lando fell first, but Carlos fell harder.

Summary
Lando felt like he was back on summer break, back in the ocean waves, back in Carlos’ bed, back in all the places he felt like Carlos was going to kiss him. All the places he had so desperately wanted Carlos to kiss him.
And even now, he still wanted Carlos to kiss him.
Like a dog coming back to the hand that hits him just in case this time it holds a treat.
What a waste.
“Stop, Carlos,” Lando said, batting his hand away from his face.
“Landito—”
“If you’re going to kiss me, then kiss me. But if you’re not, then stay out of my life, Carlos.”
