"Izzy, Izzy, Izzy," he says and swings a leg over Izzy's thighs, straddling him. "Always so dour—d'you ever think you're gonna lighten up, Iz?"
Izzy swallows, opening his mouth to reply, but Ed shushes him, his fingers pushing into Izzy's mouth before he can say a word. "Shh. I think fucking Stede would cheer you up, wouldn't it?"
At the mention of Stede, Izzy's eyes flick to the other captain. He's watching them carefully, his face unreadable as he swirls his brandy in its glass.
