Angel had never been good with rejection. That's what he was thinking about far too late into the depths of the night. Rejection had always lived rent-free in his head.
He had pretty clear flashes of memories of some of his time in the mortal world, and many of those involved being rejected. By his first love, by his family… by himself. The more times it happened, the more reactive he got to it.
In some ways, coming to Hell and becoming an icon of desire was something out of his wildest dreams. Careful what you wish for, indeed. No one ever rejected him, not really. They may talk a big game, but he could read body language like nobody's business. They all wanted him. Everybody wanted him.
Everybody… except Husk.
