Only afterwards, now with far more arms and a strange relationship with gravity, did he start panicking.
Not quite alive again and in a place he’s never heard of, Charlie isn’t sure what to make of a world he hadn’t thought of in more than a decade. Really, he’s lucky to be where he is. After all, if he’s never heard of Almia that means nothing bad happens there, right?

Huh. This work is just... serene to read. And I really do mean that, it's just so calming for some reason.
It's funny though, I had a story mapped out that was almost verbatim what this story is about, down to being centered around a Misdreavus, even.
This has been wonderful to catch up on and finish. I really did think of writing something like this but actually reading this story really puts it into perspective on just how much I would've not done with it, like I was focused on one aspect and ignoring the other parts of the story. Lest to say, it's been amazing inspiration for my own writings, genuinely. I'm going to write that story still, but I think I want to do it in another way since this story exists and I don't wish to just attempt to rewrite it. Overall, this story is perfect, and I do truly meant that. It is such a good read and I cannot recommend it any more.
I'm 90% sure I found this from a recommendation from Random, but I could be wrong. If I'm not, then fucking thank you Random, this was great!

Summary
A weird looking Riolu meets an anxious Archen who won't stop clinging to him. Trying to find their own purpose beyond being battle machines, they join an investigation academy and tackle on the biggest mysteries of an ever-changing world. Little do they know their new role will be key to uncover a world-ending conspiracy.
This is a twist to the classic PMD fanfic, with no human protagonist and no guild or exploration team, but rather… an investigation team. Aside from being a mystery fic (but don’t expect it to be detectivesque except for a few occasions), this is also a psychological drama heavily focused on character interactions, packed with emotional moments, with brief descriptions for the most part. You could say this is like a shonen Professor Layton with Steven Universe inspiration. Also, I had to raise the rating to Mature for just one single scene, just in case.
Now, let’s not waste any more time, shall we? Let us start the tale of two opposing worlds…
