Blood pulsed hard in their ears as blurred memories became focused. The yelling, cursing. The look of fury as Fuse came into view. Weapons pulled, but not at Bloodhound. Maggie. The forlorn look on Fuse’s face as he glanced down at them between haggard coughs, struggling for breath. The sudden flush on his cheeks, as Maggie spoke to him knowingly, muffled, the creeping red that followed that made Bloodhound’s heart skip. Fuse’s face begging for forgiveness.
