Summary
The green of the forest and the haze of the twilight sky whizzed by Byleth’s ears as she skirted over dead leaves and fallen soldiers, the Sword of the Creator bloodied and drawn as she hunted out the enemy - what was really the enemy, she wondered, before finally stumbling into a clearing. She looked around, the castle of Garreg Mach in the close horizon, the ongoing battle not stopping for her disorient. The screeching sound of soldiers’ armor clashing unmetrically filled her ears from all around, but her focus had shifted from her unfounded hunt; the enemy’s identity no longer mattered. She had finally found him.
Claude von Riegan stood before a grand dragon, his face streaked with blood and mud as the demonic creature edged closer to him. The glint of emerald green eyes stared up in wonder, his bow nowhere to be found. He was perfectly still, a calmness now in his eyes that had locked with the creature that had transformed from the archbishop’s usual regal and human appearance. Byleth’s breath hitched in her throat as she rushed towards him. This is not what happened.
