Summary
The conference itself would’ve been bad enough on its own. Three days in Virginia Beach with physicians from across the East Coast attending lectures and networking events and social hours that nobody actually wanted to participate in. But no, PTMC had also agreed to some commemorative panel recognizing the one-year anniversary of Pittfest.
Meaning Robby somehow ended up scheduled the next day to accept a departmental honor recognizing “exceptional leadership and emergency response coordination during mass casualty management.” There would apparently also be a plaque. A shiny new plaque to hang in the ED. Because nothing helped process collective trauma like polished wood and engraved brass.
Or, Robby is selected to sit on a conference panel commemorating Pittfest and accept an award on behalf of PTMC. (Inspired by the photo of Noah Wyle looking *lovingly* at a picture of Gerran/Dennis)

“First time doing Psych?” Caleb smiles tightly.
“Yeah,” Dennis says again. Self-depricatingly, he hopes he won’t get judged on vocabulary.
“I can tell. No one briefed you beforehand, did they?”
Dennis’ smile begins to fall. “I, uh. I’m not sure what you mean.”
“It’s not the first time this has happened and it’s not your fault,” Caleb begins, which makes Dennis’ stomach drop all the way down to his feet with trepidation.
OR:
Dennis starts his psych-rotation. Michael tries to cope with his demons. Self-reflection and personal growth happen. With some growing pains. Sometimes things get worse before they get better.

Summary
It’s good. Dennis is good. Robby feels good, too, for the first time in a long, long while.
He should have known it wasn’t going to last.
Because now Robby is standing in his bathroom, it’s his day off and Dennis is still asleep in his bed, wearing one of Robby’s shirts from his med school days, and Robby is grey.or; Robby has a crisis about his and Whitaker's age difference and hurts some feelings in the process.

“Jesus, Whitaker, I’m not going to hurt you.”
Dennis didn’t mean to say it outloud. It was just an impulsive thought that slipped right out, but before his brain could catch up to his mouth he blurted out:
“Could you?”
OR
Dennis thinks he needs to be punished in order to be saved and Robby is more than willing to save him. The two start a worryingly under negotiated relationship. Boundaries are crossed, kinks are explored, and something resembling love is pieced together along the way.
