This is not fic! This is meta about the basics of hockey that might be useful if you're coming from absolute zero but you like some gay hockey boys.
(Originally I posted it on tumblr but I was asked to cross-post to AO3 for accessibility.)

Summary
“There has to be something,” Trent muttered, furiously scrolling through his feed. Each suggestion he found was debunked by the next post, with many parents swearing up and down that certain techniques made the whole thing worse. Trent stopped on a video of a mother taking scissors to her daughter’s curls and bit down on an actual sob building in the back of his throat.
It was right before Trent let it fly that his mobile rang.
Coach Ted Lasso (from America).
Trent couldn’t say what possessed him to answer with his throat thick and his eyes prickling, but his traitorous hand had already swiped while his mouth said, “I have to shave my head.”
Or: 5 times Ted got to touch Trent's hair and one time he returned the favor.

Summary
The sight is so bizarre, so out of place that for a minute, Roy’s not sure what he’s looking at. Trent (Crimm, the Independent) looks just as shocked as Roy feels. He’s wrapped in a fuzzy blanket, stupid hair ridiculously mussed, and he’s holding a mug of steaming coffee.

Summary
“Yeah, well,” Ted says ruefully, gingerly touching the cut on his forehead, “I figure if they didn’t like the team being written about by a ‘you-know-what,’ imagine how they’d feel knowing one was coaching them.”
Ted groans as he gets down to his feet. “I’m gonna go check on Roy—unless there’s anything else you need here?” His warm hand settles on Trent’s shoulder.
For perhaps the second time in his life, Trent has no follow up questions. Ted squeezes his shoulder and goes to see to Roy’s black eye. The spot on Trent’s shoulder burns.
Or:
These are the facts.
A man swung a bottle at Trent’s head and Ted reacted like a hero in a tawdry romance novel, practically sweeping Trent into his arms while battling off a cadre of drunken bigots. Ted then told Trent Crimm, the Independent, ruthless and bloodthirsty journo, temporary damsel in distress, that a member of the coaching staff was gay as easily as he would acknowledge the weather.
The crush Trent has been nursing for months is now a problem.
