Colourful posters - all modern fonts, bright colours, and depicting a smiling alpha and omega couple - have gone up around campus, declaring that a Mating Run is due to take place this Saturday.
Viktor has noticed these cheeky little adverts, and perhaps wonders what Jayce might say or do were he to take part.
Jayce reacts in a completely reasonable manner, and no arguing or growling whatsoever takes place during their grownup discussion in which they consider the logistics involved.
It's fortunate then, that Mel chooses that exact moment to pop in, and is the sole voice of reason, with absolutely no ulterior motive up her elegant sleeve.

"I'm fucked," Jayce said the instant that Mel answered her phone.
"You've only been in Zaun for a week, Jayce."
"Yeah, but my car's Check Engine light came on last night when I was on the way home from the grocery store."
Mel hummed sympathetically. "Is it going to be expensive?"
"No, it was the stupid O2 sensor. They didn't even charge me, just reset the onboard computer."
"So…?"
Jayce made some sort of noise in the back of his throat. "The mechanic helping me had his sleeves rolled up almost to his elbows."
"Ohhhhh," Mel said in sudden understanding.

Viktor felt himself sinking a bit. He was going to be okay. He could do this. Or, that’s what he was repeating in his head. His gaze softened. It also helped that he loved the way Jayce had said I know what I’m doing. “You seem confident.”
