After his split from Tommy and Carol, and his very public fall from grace, Steve reluctantly agreed to go to his senior prom fully expecting humiliation.
And he couldn't have been more right.
Between misunderstanding what the prom committee meant by “costume ball” and playing third wheel to Nancy and Jonathan—a familiar role these days—Steve was ready to go home early and spend the remaining weeks of his high school career with his head down and what little dignity he had left intact.
But everything changed when he spotted someone else who had taken the word costume a little too literally.

It's too much. Eddie doesn't want the screaming to be the last thing he hears.
Then the sound just…
Breaks.
“C'mon, Eddie! C'mon, c'mon, just keep breathing. You need to keep breathing. You keep breathing, you keep singing and driving me crazy and narrating that ridiculous game for the kids and - just keep breathing, Eddie. For me - please, hon - I don't - not yet, it's too soon - please, please, please…”
That voice is so familiar. Eddie knows that voice. It's coming from right above him, and it's crying.
“Please stop crying…” Eddie doesn't know why he wants to say that. He can't remember the name. But he remembers the face. He remembers something warm. Something warmer than the bleeding and the pain and the tears falling on his face.
He can't tell the voice to stop crying. He can't feel his lips, or his heartbeat, or his skin anymore. He's not even sure if he can feel his own soul in his body.
Just warm.

Summary
Glaring headlights flared to life at the end of the road, blinding me as they came around the corner. My head swam as the vision began playing out just as I had seen it. This is exactly what Vecna had told me would happen.
I tried to turn away, to run into the woods before they could see me standing in the road. I felt my unnaturally sharp nails cut into my palms as I clenched my fists, fighting with every cell in my body to move.
Break free, I desperately pleaded with myself, watching as the headlights grew closer.

Eddie wakes up in the Upside Down with only memories of his brutal death, and no explanation for his sudden revival. His friends are missing, and he doesn't remember if they had even won the fight against Vecna. With no answers to why his body feels so different, and why his instincts are so loud, he sets out to find his way back topside. And maybe figure out why he has fangs now?
