Feng Xin had always been careful with the marks he left on Mu Qing’s body; nothing too long lasting or obvious lest Jun Wu finds them. Half the time, Feng Xin wanted to disregard the rules and decorate Mu Qing with kisses and bites — let Jun Wu know that by neglecting his husband, he drove him into another man’s bed — but he had always restrained himself. Having Mu Qing in his bed was more than he could ever dreamt of and despite their arrangement, Mu Qing was still fond of his husband, however neglectful he was.

He had thrown everything away for a man who would never love him back, because in the end Mu Qing knew that no matter what he did, Feng Xin would never look at him in the way he looked towards everyone else he cared for.

Summary
Mu Qing was used to being second choice, but he never expected to feel that way even in his romantic relationships.
He hated that he felt the same sting of rejection every time Xie Lian and Feng Xin left him out of their date plans as when team captains glossed over him when choosing their teams for gym classes. The fond, loving smiles that Feng Xin reserved only for Xie Lian. The small but gentle touches. The murmurs and assurances of their love for one another. They never gave him that, neither of them did.
