“It has to be that thing with that girl, right?” Daeron asks, a drop of wine slipping from the corner of his mouth. He wipes it with his thumb, licks it after, “Back in high school?”
Dunk is looking at Aerion, but Aerion is avoiding his gaze. Red-rimmed, teary eyes fixed on his brother only, and Dunk can see his hands shaking where they’re resting in his lap. He tries to reach for them, to cup Aerion’s fingers in his own, but Aerion pulls away as though Dunk’s touch burns.
“What’s he talking about?” Dunk asks, thoroughly confused.
Daeron looks between the two of them and scoffs, “Come on, brother, you’ve surely told your fiancé about the time you—”
And before he can finish, Aerion is jumping across the table, quick and vicious as a feral cat, an ugly roar tearing out of him as he lunges with hands aimed for his brother's neck.
or: In the week leading up to their wedding, Dunk finds out about all the horrible things Aerion has done and never told him. And now Dunk is trying to reconcile this version of Aerion, who’s honestly a complete asshole, with the man he thought he knew and fell in love with, and figure out if he can love him enough to look past all of it.

Dunk didn’t mean to become a dragon. Really, he didn’t. He had meant to join the Ashford Tourney, to win himself a small sliver of honor and glory, and to show the world what Ser Arlan’s gnarled hand had wrought.
Instead, he ran afoul a witch, got himself two damn flapping tents for hands and a tail that did not know how to stop moving.

Summary
Before he was Dunk the lunk, thick as a castle wall, he was a dragon with no name. Magic turned that dragon into human and Dunk was left to figure out the rest on his own.
Aerion had been elated when dragons had been found again. While he did not bond with the two that had been brought back, he knew for a fact that there was one more out there that was his. One with brass scales and blue eyes.
