Steady, calm, strong, alpha. Scent as strong as wood, the forest smell that has been washing her with calm since she got here.

The whole thing was Dina’s idea. Getting up early, packing a lunch and heading to the lake, to which Ellie reluctantly agreed. Wasn’t it enough to just take it easy at home? Nonetheless, she drove them out of town and speeded an old backroad to get to wherever Dina wished to go. In hindsight, it was a good choice.

Dina swings one leg out of the window, hooking the rolled cuff of her jeans against the siding momentarily, and Ellie’s heart freezes. If Dina falls, every aspect of their plan is going to fall apart. Dina will be grounded for even longer, Jesse will be double-grounded (because he has two parents- this seems logical to her) and Joel is never going to let her hang out with either of them again, not even Jesse, who he says all the time is “a good influence”, whatever that means anyway.
dina sneaks out, jesse really tries to help and ellie is drunk and stupidly in love.
