“It is over,” Finan promised me, reaching down to place his hand on my shoulder. “We are free.”
Those three words caused the air in my lungs to stall, tears welling in my eyes until I gasped and fell to my knees. Olafr must have been watching, for he ran to me, throwing his arms around my neck as I cried. He pulled away, placing his small hand on my cheek, and I could not help but to laugh softly. “Oh, mo stór,” I whispered, another breathy chuckle escaping me as his eyes widened. He looked back at Finan, who was watching me in awe, and similar looks could be found behind him on the faces of those that thought they knew me. I got to my feet, smoothing a hand over Olafr’s head before looking up at Finan, then stated plainly, “My name is Melkorka.”
