You still babysit him after uni and after your shifts, that is until you leave Japan to take an internship in Germany, leaving behind everything, but also a very heartbroken little boy — you exchange postcards and e-mails with Sayo, but when you return, finally, to live at your old mother's house, you're already thirty-two and Sayo doesn't look like she aged a single day.
Then you catch a glimpse of that little boy who is now twenty-two and he towers over both of you with ease.
