The most dead of all were his eyes - empty eyes that held nothing in their black depths, open eyes that remained motionless as they stared into each other. Eichi could count the fine capillaries in their corners, Hibiki’s elegant dark eyelashes, but it was the hollow of his irises that made him shiver from the bottom of his soul as he realized: there was no light in Hibiki, none. All of his light came from the outside and refracted from him, making him appear so grand and magnificent. His own star had long since perished, imploded, and became a cold black dwarf sifting through the remains of a galaxy.
