Summary
For two decades now, Earth has been a battleground for the United Anthro Military and Coalition Corps, with no end in sight. The never-ending war has taken its toll on humanity, leaving fewer than four billion individuals alive. The constant conflict has brought nothing but sorrow and frustration to the people. Despite being composed of all human nations, the UHC is struggling to keep up with the relentless fighting and is on the verge of losing the battle. Within them, a young inexperienced conscript, drafted into the biggest war this planet had ever seen will be met with the hidden, ugly side of war the advertisements and propaganda never show. Will he live on? A small, worthless foot soldier that was just cannon fodder? To be thrown in hell and discarded after he helped in Mandkind's last stand?
Only time will tell.

Summary
Nine years after Earth was conquered by the Daxy, a race of matriarchal lizards, Miles faces Assignment to a Daxy partner as all young men must. Rather than submit himself to Axla, his would-be mate, the engineer goes on the run to the mysterious state of Zion with his friends Finn and Rax.
During their odyssey across a post-invasion America, they are wrapped up in the affairs of rebels, cultists, and the inhabitants of Zion itself, all of whom run afoul of the Empire's total authority over Earth. Miles and the Daxy pilot, Rax, find themselves increasingly infatuated with each other.
Faced with everything from the Fleet pursing them, to love, and addiction, Miles, his family, and his allies, all find themselves on different sides of a deep inter-species divide. Will the two races learn to cooperate, or will humanity remain forever as prisoners, as well as mates, for the Daxy?

This work is intended for readers above 18
Shortly after the Continental Army steps down, many survivors and refugees in the outskirts of the world are given a tough choice. Allow the Daxy to take them away and submit or Flee to the most remote regions and delay the seemingly inevitable. This story will follow two parallel stories. One of a young man trying to escape the quickly growing hand of the Daxy empire. And the other of a state patrol officer trying to cooperate and work with his new Daxy colleagues. the arrival of the Daxy poses unique challenges on both sides. The remaining men must learn to coexist with their alien counterparts until the empire fully settles the region. This story takes place in the “Assignment Risk” universe created by Alephkeller. I am new to the world of writing large pieces such as this, so any criticism is welcomed.
