Summary

To be fair, he had no goal throughout his life. He always kept going with the flow, only adapting and changing his personality to where it was today when he was about nine years old. He knew what happened if he stayed quiet in this world full of bad people, especially with how scrawny he was—they'd pick and poke at him until he bled and begged for mercy.

As Kokichi stepped away, his gloved fingertips rolled over the back of Shuichi’s neck, teasing the only part of his skin exposed to the air. It made Shuichi shiver, his thighs clenching for a reason he couldn’t explain. “Perhaps my jest went too far this time. Then again, I’ll be stealing much more than a lover from you soon!”
While his father and mother laughed at Kokichi’s words, they made Shuichi’s breath catch in his throat. Was that what Kokichi was here for? The riches locked away in their treasury? Shuichi had seen Kokichi around those halls plenty of times before, always chatting up the guards. Shuichi had never realized that was what Kokichi was after, but now that he knew it, the pieces quickly fell into place.
Without that gold, Shuichi could not become king. No matter what, he would foil Kokichi’s plot. As soon as a plan occurred to him, Shuichi waved over the waiter for another refill of his glass, knowing that he’d rather not be sober for what he was going to have to do next.

Ouma’s always known that something was off with him. He’s always wondered to himself how he could fix it, or if it was even possible for him to change in the first place. Even to this day, when he lays down his lead body, Ouma may humor himself and ponder over what he can do to rectify the person he is.
He always comes up short, though. And maybe a little more irritated than he was before.
Ouma giggles to himself, swaying back and forth on the balls of his feet. There’s something about himself that he just can’t see, no matter how hard these eyes look. He will never find what he’s looking for.
But maybe Saihara will.
