This way, I’m facing the stars. I could watch them as I die. I bring my eyes further down, then, to rest on his monstrous face. It slowly melts back into its human form. This smile is no less terrifying. It promises death, and pain, and it promises to enjoy it.
“Playing with your food?”
He looks like a kid on Christmas morning. “You’re my favourite, you know.” His fingers meld into three digits and he presses the tips of his claws against my throat.
I laugh softly. “You’re mine, too.”
