Stede began to protest that he was perfectly capable of getting into the rowboat himself, thank you very much, when he felt something solid strike the back of his head. He had a moment to wonder if this is how Nigel felt before everything went black.

What if Chauncey never fell and killed himself? Instead, Stede was rebranded a criminal and chained up on Chauncey's ship where he is questioned about the whereabouts of Blackbeard. Stede will protect Ed until the day he dies and if that's what he must do to protect him then so be it.

Summary
The memories of abuse are not forgotten with time, as he had hoped. He had survived, he thought that would be the end, but it was the beginning of a brutal recovery. One of which he couldn’t tell anyone about. Because who would believe a spoiled, soft-bellied idiot? No one, or at least, no one alive. Nigel and Chauncy haunted his brain far before he killed Nigel, reopening his wounds when he thought they had scarred over.
That was why, when Chauncy Badminton ordered him to follow, saying he must pay for killing his brother, saying he must disdain the most beautiful man on earth, he swallowed his hesitation, and followed him.

Chauncey doesn’t shoot himself and successfully captures Stede Bonnet. Years of bullying make Stede terrified and complacent, making Chauncey’s job easier. Edward throws out all things soft in his life, including memories of Stede.
That is, until the crew hears rumors about a Badminton who’d lost his mind. Then the pieces start to fit together.

Yet another Chauncy-tortures-Stede fic because I can’t get enough of them, but it includes a tale of recovering from bullying. Chauncy’s torture dates back to Stede’s childhood, and he works to overcome it.

Summary
That was the real trouble, wasn’t it? Letting Stede run him through with a sword had been nothing, in the end. He’d survived dozens of near-fatal wounds. It was exposing his soul to Stede that had finally done him in.
Ed has retreated far into his grief, and he's gotten rid of everyone--and everything--that reminds him of Stede. Then, one morning, a dinghy shows up at the Revenge.
