Summary
He hates Sejanus. He’s sure he does. Hates the way Sejanus takes everything for granted, hates the way people want to possess Sejanus – and how Sejanus lets them, so easily, so desperate to be loved; he hates the way Sejanus throws away his money like it’s nothing; hates how Sejanus is so ungrateful for everything he has done and will continue to do. Do I even exist to you, Sejanus Plinth? Am I a ghost to you? A guardian angel? Can you see me, really?
Most of all, he hates how Sejanus makes him burn...Coriolanus doesn’t even know if the burning he feels is really hatred. It isn’t love, but it’s somewhat passionate. Passionate like a punch. Skin on skin; osseous knuckle meeting soft, sensitive flesh.
Splitting open hearts or splitting open the skin on lips. What was really, truly, the difference?
OR
Seven times Coriolanus was a sinner and Sejanus was the saint. One time Coriolanus made sure it stayed that way.
