AM has disappeared without a trace, only to return in human form. Just not the male form he expects. Ted, Gorrister, Ellen, Benny, and Nimdok do their best to cope with these changes, inviting him into their ranks, put at odds with a more benevolent AI that now controls their fate.
Meanwhile, a testing facility is created with the purpose of self-flagellation, blocked off from the new world.
