The brig door locks behind them with a pneumatic hiss. Red light blares in the room and Pyke watches as Rex’s face slowly shifts from annoyance, to confusion, then flashes to fear. The light spins around dramatically as the computerized voice coming in through the speakers announces “Warning. Hull breach detected. Initiating shipwide lockdown procedure.
Common room entering lockdown. Crew quarters entering lockdown. Storage hall entering lockdown. Brig entering lockdown.”

“My friend just left to get us drinks before you got here,” the bounty says. “He’s been gone a while, actually. Probably making rounds. I’m surprised you didn’t run into him.” She addresses this to Pyke, who’s surprised to be acknowledged again.
Pyke taps his cigarette, leaning back in his chair before taking another drag. “Is he a popular guy? Would we know him?”
In the occasional strobe light that spills from the dance floor, Pyke spots her coy smile. “Maybe.” Her eyes go past him. “If you’ve ever seen TV in the last, say, ten years.”
A voice rings out, clear and recognizable above the music. “I’m baaaack! Did you miss me?”
Give or take a year after they last saw each other, Pyke and Rex meet in a nightclub.

one of the best fics ive read in all my years reading fic. if anything this fanfic really elevates the source material that by now is obsolete at best. but i love ufo. great show, good slash. props to the author for archiving this online so i dont lose my mind
