Summary
“You are overdoing this. You always do with him,” Dyanna said
“You guard him as if the world is waiting to tear him apart, but look at what that guard does. You excuse the blow he struck because he is yours and crush those who dare to strike back,”
“Of course I guard him! How can I not?”
“Have you forgotten, Dyanna? Have you forgotten the nights we spent huddled over his crib just to make sure his heart won’t suddenly stop again?”
Maekar had almost lost Aerion the day he was born, and in loving him, he had willfully blinded himself. He had meant to forge a shield to protect his son, but instead, he shaped him into someone he scarcely recognized.
He had fed the dragon within Aerion until it grew large enough to consume the boy entirely.

Summary
"The crown suits you, you know," said Ser Duncan over the cacophony, bringing Baelor back to himself. "Makes you look... you know. Kingly. Which I suppose makes sense, seeing as how you're the king now." A look of anguish crossed his face. "Oh, hells, I shouldn't be calling you 'you,' should I? It's 'Your Grace.' Please don't take—"
Baelor resisted the urge to rest his hand against the lad's back, as one might soothe a skittish horse. "No offense was taken, ser."
"Thank you," Ser Duncan said, then immediately amended, "thank Your Grace...ness. Seven fucks, I'm getting another drink." And he whirled away into the throng before Baelor could say a word.
