The small café is packed and you curse yourself for not having gotten there earlier. After a week of night-time writing (you are an owl not a lark kind of person and so is your muse) time has blurred into a meaningless thing and you’ve forgotten that it’s actually Saturday and everyone plus their kid and dog is out to eat and drink and enjoy the glorious June weather - so of course the place is crammed. Perhaps it would be best to abandon the plan of consuming your favourite pot of tea here. But as it happens you cannot get this particular blend anywhere else, so it’s either admitting defeat or siding with the enemy.
The enemy is a lanky, 6-foot something, raven-haired beefcake with an aura like a comic book villain who occupies the only table left with a lone free chair.
