“You want to…watch? Me and Jake?” Jay asks, slowly, observant to the way Sunghoon flinches and busies himself with the many dishes piling up in their sink, turning the faucet on full blast.
“I-It’s weird, right?” Sunghoon mumbles distractedly, elbow-deep in hot, soapy dish water now. “Sorry, I don't know why I asked I-I just—”
“It's only weird because it's coming from you,” Jay interrupts him with a small laugh, just a bit awkward. “Mr. Vanilla himself.”
“I—Hey, I’m not vanilla. Just because I’m not as freaky as you two are-”
“—Jake. As freaky as Jake.”
“Uh-huh,” Sunghoon rolls his eyes, thinking about all the times he’s been forced to hear Jay’s muffled whining through the dorm walls. Obviously, it wasn't just Jake. “So, uh…would it…be okay? You don't have to get me anything for my birthday, by the way,” he whispers. “This um…this would be it. I’m just curious, I guess. T-That’s all.”
Or, it was hard—being a good friend sometimes. But Sunghoon usually manages. Usually.
