Roughly a week after the events of PittFest, Dennis Whitaker is in the ER taking care of patients and one of them gets unruly.
Dennis gets a nasty right hook to the face and is out. Robby might care too much and Trinity is seething.
Scans come back and Dennis has a concussion.

Summary
“You were in an accident. Please, listen to me. Get back on the bed.”
Dennis stills at that, giving him that same, blank look from before. Robby wants to shut his eyes. He never wants to see it again.
He tilts his head. “Accident?”
“You were—” Robby says, and doesn’t miss the desperation in his own voice. “I just told you. You were in an accident. Don’t you remember?”After an argument about Robby’s resignation from the Pitt, Dennis gets into a car crash that makes him unable to retain short-term memories. Including the fight they just had, and Robby’s imminent departure. It’s up to Robby to nurse him back to health, and choose which truth to tell him.
Or, Dennis gets anterograde amnesia.

Summary
Robby stands there, lost and unable to move as he watches his husband be taken from him.
Langdon walks up to him, hand gently resting on his shoulder as he forces their eyes to meet.
“Go,” it’s all he says.
Robby shakes his head, jaw clenching, deflated. “I can’t, I've got a hospital to run. There’s nothing I can do right now.”
Langdon laughs slightly, shaking his head in disbelief. “Robby, if that man means anything to you, and from what I've just gathered, he means everything, then you need to be there for him. You will be no good to us if your mind isn’t in this, if you’re constantly worrying about him. We can cope without you for one day, and I’m sure Doctor Abbot isn't going to say no to coming in a few hours early for you. Go be with him, even if it’s just waiting up there, he’ll know.”
Robby looks at him, feeling almost hollow. Useless.
~or Dennis gets hit by a car and is left in critical condition but the only on who can snap Robby out of it and get him moving again to save his husband's life is currently laying unconscious in a hospital bed.
or or, Robby is terrified and breaks when his husband hurt and really needs a hug.

It’s far too late to stop now, though, and when Dennis is brought into the ER months after this whole thing started, Robby finds himself falling apart. He can’t lose the one man he’d finally been willing to let in.
