A few months after that disasterous Easter, Jack goes to make sure Pitch isn't up to anything nefarious. Instead, he finds the bogeyman at the mercy of strange shadow-creatures, and resolves to rescue him and let him recover in the safest place he knows; the Warren. Of course, that would be easier if Pitch and Bunny didn't have so much history between them, and if Jack hadn't gotten infected.

Jack Frost has the family he's always wanted. Nothing seemed to be missing until he meets Jamie's cousin, Emma Stone. Emma and her parents move in with Jamie's family when her mom gets cancer. Nothing can be done, so they just try to make her as comfortable as possible among the only family she has left in Burgess. Emma struggles to keep herself together while her father falls apart. And then she meets Jack Frost. Neither were looking, but they both find something in each other. Then Pitch returns with a new-found strength he didn't have before, seeking revenge, his eyes focused on Emma. Will Jack have the strength needed to protect Emma, or will he use a different kind of strength to push her away, to protect her both from harm and from the broken heart that is sure to come? However, Emma isn't just going to give up without a fight. She's willing to fight for what she wants, and she won't let anyone get in her way.

Jack is done. Just done. What more can a winter spirit do to be included? The Guardians ignore him like before, the kids have game systems and no longer go out to play with him. His only friend is the wind. Well, That's not enough for Jack. He'll end it...if the wind will let him.

Jack refuses to let Pitch return to the darkness all alone, and follows Pitch as he gets dragged down by the Nightmares. Jack finds himself alone in the darkness, surrounded by Pitch's fears. Jack tries to figure out how to get close to Pitch and help him fight the fear's, as Pitch learns what it means to have someone close once more.
