Summary
"No quiero"
"Pero acabas de pedirme que te compre un collar"
"Porque quiero que me compres un collar"
"Tommy no te estoy entendiendo"
"Quiero llevar un collar que tú hayas comprado para mí" su voz se apaga al final de la frase y no puede seguir mirando a Wilbur a los ojos.

Summary
"I want you to give me a necklace" is the first thing he says when he sets foot in Wilbur's apartment.
Subtlety isn't his thing, but Tommy thought a direct approach would be best. He's going to die of embarrassment anyway so he'll just get to the point. Wilbur leaves his keys on the entryway table and looks at him with a frown, as if he's checking to see if he's heard right.
"Sure. I can buy you one if you want to" Wilbur looks a bit confused "Didn't know you wanted to star wearing accesories"
"I don't want to"
"But you just asked me to buy you one"
"Because I want you to buy me a necklace"
"Tommy I'm not following you"
"I want to wear a necklace that you have bought for me" her voice trails off at the end of the sentence and he can't keep looking Wilbur in the eye.

Summary
Mel King was a creature of habit.
There was a specific sort of choreography to her life beyond the chaos of the Emergency Department. A carefully controlled routine, a color-coded calendar, a rigid set of rituals that kept her grounded enough to keep showing up day after day, to keep on doing the work that was required of her to save lives.
Everything was going fine for Mel. Her personal life was predictable, unexciting, and perfectly fulfilling, thank you very much.
Enter Frank Langdon, agent of chaos.

Summary
“You seem—sad.” Was that the right word? Others sprang to mind: desperate, lonely, anxious.
Tooru looked away. “Are you going to make me say it?”
“Say what?”
Tooru folded his arms, sighed. “I missed you, of course.”
Hajime swallowed.
“No need to look that way. I told you, I’m not one of your macho man buddies. I’m allowed to say stuff like that without being embarrassed—”
“You’re being ridiculous,” Hajime complained. “No need to be so defensive. I’ve missed you too.”
“Oh?” Tooru seemed to get a little of his own back, leaning forward on his elbows. “What about me did you miss?”
((Going to separate universities, Hajime and Tooru learn the true meaning of "distance makes the heart grow fonder"))

Summary
The very first time he met Rose Lalonde he was quite certain that everything about her was a fabrication. The very last time he met her, he knew the act by heart.

Summary
SM: Come on, admit it. Weren’t you and Ms. Lalonde a thing?
DS: If we were a thing it sure wasn’t a thing anything like the thing that you’re thinking was a thing that could actually happen.
SM: So, yes or no?
DS: Have you seen her? I could get the same effect by grinding a mirror, but with less freezerburn.(Written for HSO 2012 Bonus Round 1; the prompt was "Popular History + Proverbs - Alpha!DaveAlpha!Rose".)

Summary
For a while it got easier, through brute-force avoidance and then moving across the country, thousands of miles away from anyone who felt like a real person.
But then you come back―of course you do―and it’s worse than you could’ve ever imagined, because you’re faced with the reality of it.
The reality of Nancy, who says they’ll just have to put off Emerson by a year or two and leaves no room for argument. Jonathan lives in her house, for fuck’s sake, and he’d be hard-pressed to remember the last time they touched that didn’t involve them both going for the salt shaker at the same time.
But there are worse things than Nancy. Something he can no longer avoid.
Because he isn’t actually an eternal eleventh grader, coiled and ready to strike in the back alley of every dream Jonathan has had for four years.
