All seems like endless numbness and existential living, until he sees Doppio Vinegar for the first time. Suddenly his whole life seems to be repeating, and the pain only returns to replace the numbness.

Summary
Every time you rap on the door, there will be an echo that carries on the weight. Every time you scream, there will be an echo that carries on your pain. "If a tree falls in a forest, and no one is around, does it make a sound?" is not the question to ask, rather, "Will anybody hear that sound?" That tree will always hear the crash it creates, but if no one is around, no one will hear it, similar to every rap on the door, and every guttural scream. You will hear it, but will anyone else?
