Summary
Eddie is working hard on figuring himself out, getting a life, and also reestablishing contact with Buck after worrying about them drifting apart and their friendship changing. Realizing that sometimes people misunderstand his relationship with Buck should not be the shock it is. Also, if Chris could stop launching verbal sneak attacks on him, he'd appreciate it.
Meanwhile, Buck's learning to parent a toddler while not at all being insecure about something said by one Margaret Buckley. He's just studiously avoiding the word 'Parent' like the plague, and otherwise doing his damn best.
or
If Buck had a nickel for every time someone left him their kid in their will without his knowledge–well, he’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it’s happened twice now.

Summary
Eddie and Theo get stranded during a huge flash flooding event and are presumed missing. A week later, Eddie wakes up and brings him and Theo back to civilization, only he hit his head and doesn’t remember over a decade of his life, much less what happened the past week. Or, so he’s saying.

Summary
"Is there a history of cancer within your family?"
Buck felt his heart stop.
OR,
There was something wrong with Theo. The unapologetically chaotic boy was gone, replaced by someone who Buck didn’t recognise. Someone who was tired all the time, someone who was pale and pushed around his food at the dinner table. A shell of himself.
Something was wrong with Theo, and Buck went to bed every night and wished he could simply kiss it better, wished he knew what was wrong. Later, he would come to find that sometimes you had to be very careful what you wished for...

Summary
Buck is fine. Really.
He doesn't need therapy. He doesn't need people reminding him that he's not alone. He definitely doesn't need Eddie to be just like everyone else.
He got back, didn't he? Bonnie and Earl are far, far away.
He's home.
He's fine.Too bad Eddie doesn't buy his bullshit. Never did, never will.
Or : After New Mexico, Eddie tries to get Buck to open up to someone. It doesn't go well, and they basically have the worst argument they ever had, leaving things unresolved as they part. Then shit hits the fan, and Buck can't do anything about it.

Summary
Buck steps closer, takes the knife from Eddie’s hand, the movement careful and gentle, and sets it aside. “Hey,” he tilts his head into Eddie’s line of sight. “It’s me. What’s going on?”
“You know that thing that’s been going around, about the sun?”
“The dimming thing? Eddie, that’s–”
“It’s not,” he cuts him off right away. “The sun is losing output, we have data. And not gradually, not in a way that gives us centuries – we’re talking a decade. Two, tops.”
Buck leans his hip against the counter beside him, crosses his arms over his chest. “…okay.”
“There’s a team that’s been on it and they think they have a lead on a solution. They need someone to go out there and retrieve whatever the thing is and bring it back.”
“Why are you telling me this?”
Eddie doesn’t have to look, but he does anyway. He owes Buck that much.
“It’s going to be a three person crew. A scientist, an engineer, and someone to fly the ship.”
The silence sits around Eddie’s neck, drawing tighter with every second that passes. He can see the moment the words land.
“And that someone is you.”
