Their argument had started from thin air, as per usual.
“Ryuu,” Osamu started, so, so, quietly that the black-haired man almost didn’t hear it.
“Mmm..?” Ryuunosuke made a small noise of acknowledgement, eyes still glued lazily to his phone.
His first mistake.
“Are you stupid?”
“Excuse me?”
His second mistake.

Ryuunosuke somehow keeps digging himself into deeper holes.
And this time, he's trapped in a moving vehicle with the very man who practically dictates his entire life.

Ryuunosuke never questioned how their relationship had gotten to this point.
Osamu was… An enigma.
If one were to have a crush, it would surely be on Chuuya.
Surely. Unless they were one of those squealing classmates who fangirled over Osamu’s entire existence.
Ah. It seemed that Ryuunosuke was no better than they were since, as far back as he remembered, he was absolutely infatuated with Osamu.
It was addictive. Was he fucked up for this? Yes. Probably. Did he hate it? A bit. But did he want it immensely? Yes. Of course.

With shaky hands, Ryuunosuke accepted the call and began to speak.
“Osa–”
“I’m outside.” Came that evenly crisp tone, cutting him off immediately.
Ryuunosuke almost dropped his phone again. “Excuse me. What?”
“Hurry up.” Was the only reply in that infuriatingly uncaring voice of his.

Childhood friends that twisted into something more. Ryuunosuke struggles to believe Osamu Dazai feels anything romantic towards him, yet everything he does gives off mixed signals as if on purpose. But... No relationship, friendship or platonic should be like this, right?

It wasn’t his fault.
It really wasn’t.
Ryuunosuke hadn’t done anything wrong. He knew it. Osamu knew it. Osamu knew that he knew this.
But Osamu’s whims were strange. His emotions a mystery, even to him at times. Especially to Ryuunosuke.
“Look at you. What a magnificent birthday, right?” Osamu cooed sarcastically, one thumb brushing over Ryuunosuke’s tense jaw.

Ryuunosuke had no idea what he did wrong, but something had pushed Osamu over the edge. Armed with a single red velvet cake, Osamu manages to make even his partner's birthday a dreadful occurrence.
