"Man, I really looked forward to my invitation every year before entering the school!" Kalim exclaims with a bright smile. He turns to Leona, raising one palm up. There is no recognition in his face. Just the usual warmth and glow he offers to strangers, his friendly grin making his eyes crinkle. "You must've gotten them too, right Leona? Since you're royalty. Maybe we even bumped into each other when we were kids!"
Destiny really likes some sick jokes. Leona keeps a straight face, closing his eyes. "...search me. Who cares."
or: in which Leona and Kalim were childhood friends, until a curse shaped with thorns and made out of oblivion tore them apart.
