“No need to consult,” Frank states, resolutely. “I’m not arguing about this.” She frowns at his feet, refusing to meet his eye. “If you have any issues discharging, let me know.” He picks up his own tablet and retreats from their rendezvous point. Mel’s ears are burning and she tears her gaze from the floor to stare at Frank’s back as he leaves.

"Mel," he repeated, sturdier this time. "You're…. you're killing me here."
"How so?" she asked automatically, voice husky and sincere. Frank laughed under his breath.
"Mel," was all he could say again, his voice dropping another octave. The skin behind her ears prickled at the pleading tone in his words. "Please."
She swallowed roughly, her fingers stilling against his hot skin. Another step too far. Another tread past plausible deniability. But she deserved nice things. They both did.
In which Langdon's offer to fix Mel's leaky sink turns into a revelation of tattoos and one relationship redefining moment

"Mel— what are you—"
"Please," she whispered, her voice raw and pleading. She looked up at him slowly; he sucked in a sharp breath as he took in how wide and teary her eyes were. "I… I need the distraction."
Her fingers were twitching against his skin where she had hooked them into his waistband. She looked so desperate he could cry. Langdon let out a shuddering breath, tears prickling the corners of his own eyes.
"Mel… I'm married," he whispered gently. Apologetically. There was an edge of warning in his tone, even if he knew it held no merit.
"That hasn't stopped you before."
In which an unhappily married Langdon falls hard and fast for Mel in the months after their reunion. As the summer wears on, Langdon is devastated to realize just how weak his will actually is. But despite the guilt... he just can't seem to keep his hands off of her.
