Summary
Salem Owens comes from a long line of women who have committed suicide. Her mother and grandmother clung to faith in a higher power, but Salem doesn't believe in anything. All she wants is to live quietly until she inevitably follows her family's example. It seems however, that her neighbors have quite a different idea, and Salem finds herself at odds with not only the world, but her own convictions. In a society that insists it has evolved, Omegas are still treated as liabilities. Managed, monitored, and stripped of autonomy under the guise of protection. Independence comes at a cost, and for one fiercely self-reliant Omega, that cost is steep.What begins as another situation outside your control turns into an opportunity. The deal is simple: You stay with them under the pretense of courting their pack until the courts rule you no longer requires rehabilitation oversight. In exchange, the team gains the appearance of compliance with Omega welfare policies.
But proximity breeds complications. Beneath the tension lies something harder to define. Loyalty, attraction, and the fragile possibility of trust in a society that punished those who do not have the strength to back it. As external threats close in and internal walls begin to crack from all sides, the balance between performance and genuine connection blurs.

The guy grins, all sharp teeth, and brings Steve’s hand up to his lips, placing a delicate kiss on the back of his hand, almost reverently. Steve’s heart is in his throat and he’s pretty sure his pulse has never been this high, barring awful Upside-Down-related incidents. The pretty stranger briefly strokes his wrist with his thumb as he lets go of Steve’s hand, and he lets out an involuntary shiver. If the stranger’s smirk is anything to go by, he definitely noticed.
