Although they did write some work related events on it to not draw suspicion, it was first and foremost used to indicate when Shane wanted Ilya to use him. Summary

Summary
The words sliced through Ilya’s confusion. His own voice from over a week ago, echoed in the sudden, ringing silence of his mind: “You can have sex with other men when we’re apart.”
No.
No no no.
Ilya blinked rapidly, fighting back the hot press of his own tears. The sheer, utter wrongness of it all was suffocating. Shane, on his knees, apologizing for being hurt.
